Beyoncé and Kanye West are two artists known for creating hits that became moments in pop culture. West’s 2010 song “All of the Lights” is one of those songs. Although Beyoncé herself did not appear on the song, she participated in the song’s writing.
Beyoncé Watching Kanye West Record ‘All of the Lights’
Hit producer The-Dream co-created All of the Lights with Kanye. He reflected on the experience in an interview The Deep Hidden Meaning of Nile Rogers Radio.
“‘All the light,’ oh man, whoa, ‘all the light,'” he remembered. “I am doing 4 in New York for [Beyoncé]. we are working on 4 And Kanye happened to pass the studio. Ye didn’t know I was there, and he was like, ‘Oh, glad you’re here. “I thought, ‘Okay, cool. Let me hear it. This track came up. I was like, ‘Wow, this is crazy. “I knew right away what I wanted to do, right away.”
“So, we got the booth to work and the engineers came down and recorded. After the first shot, it ended up being the song you hear now, and he said, ‘No, no, no, no, try another one, ‘” Dream continued. “Like, ‘Okay. Okay.’ Got another one. “Oh, try another one, Dream. “It’s like, ‘Okay.'”
Soon, both The-Dream and Beyoncé realize that Kanye is asleep on top of them.
“I liked number eight on that song I did. I saw it, Kanye West was asleep. I thought, I looked through the glass, ‘Yo, is he asleep?'” he said. “B was like, ‘Yeah, he’s kind of knocked out.’ I was like, ‘What?'”
While Kanye was asleep, she helped The-Dream complete the track
Because his collaborator was asleep, The-Dream needed help to finish the song. Beyoncé put in her two cents and suggested he use the first shot.
“She said, ‘Actually, Dream, the first hook, was that one.’ I was like, ‘I know. I know that’s that song,’ so, it ended up being the one Rihanna still sings to this day. ,”He says. “But it was hilarious. My thought was eight. He fell asleep from the third thought.”
