How do I play Mega Millions?
The Mega Millions draw is held every Tuesday and Friday at 11pm. Each ticket costs $2, but you can add a Megaplier for $1, which will increase your potential bonus amount to five times the original prize (except for the jackpot).
Each player chooses five numbers from 1 to 70 for the white ball and one number from 1 to 25 for the super ball. However, you can also let the lottery machine generate a random quick pick for you.
Prizes range from $2 for matching a super ball to $1 million for matching all five white balls (except California) to a grand prize for matching all six balls. You can view all winnings paid out on the Mega Millions website here.
You do not need to be a U.S. citizen or a resident of the specific state where you purchased the ticket.
Where can I play Mega Millions?
You can play the game in 45 states, as well as the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands. States that do not offer millionaires are: Alabama, Alaska, Hawaii, Nevada and Utah.
Many grocery stores, gas stations, and convenience stores sell lottery tickets. Some states allow Mega Millions lottery tickets to be purchased online, but beware of scam sites. Check with your state lottery for more details.

What does cash option mean?
Major US lotteries offer two jackpot payout options: annuity and cash.
Annuity options pay out over time. Pay now, then pay 29 times a year, increasing by 5% per year.
The cash option is significantly lower than the advertised jackpot, but it’s a one-time payment. You don’t have to wait decades to get all your money.
